These works are a result of a material based research project which bring the process of refining clay into the exhibition space. Bringing clay from its local natural source on Shankill Beach, removing any silt and rocks, decanting it and leaving it to dry is not only the process of a material but the process of the ‘thing’. This is then displayed alongside all the apparatus used throughout the process. Glass, Steel, Jersey, the other materials used in the process integrate well with the clay as tools and aids. They allow the clay to be used and re-used with little waste.

"Architecture and design find their way into my work in how I decide to display the processes I have undertaken over the course of making a ‘thing’. The actual act of exhibiting work creates a finality which, because my work is process based, I am not often comfortable with. However, the resultant modes of exhibiting which I employ to show a process become as much part of the work as the ‘thing’ which was originally meant to be displayed."
